And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Mat 28:18-20 NAU)
Christ calls us to make disciples. We believe that each follower of Christ is on mission everyday in whatever setting the Lord has placed him or her. The First Baptist family is committed to reaching out with the gospel both locally & globally. Each year, our family joins together for this goal is many ways. Some of those efforts include:
Each year, our family is engaged in Great Commission going. Individuals & groups of members join together to accomplish local missions efforts throughout the year. Several times during each year, teams from our church make stateside & international trips to help existing churches, encourage & aid church planters, & to spread the gospel one-on-one.
Our church is also consistently engaged in missions giving. First Baptist supports the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions & the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions each year. In addition to these, we also support Alabama missions through programs like the Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes & Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief.
Missions Education is an important part of our regular schedule at First Baptist Church. In addition to the special emphases that occur around our annual missions offerings and trips, we are committed to train our people to support missions.
